Stamped and Dyed

Give your concrete surfaces more curb appeal

Stamped and dyed concrete offers numerous benefits that make it an attractive choice for both residential and commercial projects. It offers the ability to mimic the appearance of natural materials such as stone, brick, or slate which allows for endless design possibilities. This enables homeowners and businesses to achieve the desired aesthetic without the high cost associated with using actual natural materials. Additionally, stamped and dyed concrete provides excellent durability and longevity, making it resistant to wear, fading, and weathering. The application of a protective sealer further enhances its resistance to stains, UV damage, and moisture penetration. Stamped and dyed concrete requires minimal maintenance, as it eliminates the need for regular cleaning, sealing, or regrouting associated with traditional paving materials. Lastly, its versatility extends to various applications, including driveways, patios, pool decks, walkways, and even interior floors, offering a cohesive and visually appealing design throughout the property.

our process

01

Base Concrete Placement: The process begins with pouring and placing the base concrete layer, which acts as the foundation for the stamped and dyed surface. The concrete is mixed and poured to the desired thickness and consistency, ensuring it is properly compacted and leveled.

02

Surface Preparation: Once the base concrete is placed, the surface is prepared for stamping. This involves cleaning, smoothing, and priming the concrete to ensure optimal adhesion of the stamping tools and dye.

03

Stamping: Stamping is performed while the concrete is still in its plastic state but has reached a suitable firmness called the "stampable" stage. Stamping mats or textured stamps are pressed onto the surface, creating imprints that mimic natural materials like stone, brick, or slate. The stamps are applied in a systematic pattern, taking care to a

04

Color Application: Dyes or color hardeners are applied to the surface to enhance the appearance and depth of the stamped concrete. Dyes can be sprayed, brushed, or rolled onto the surface, allowing for precise color control. Color hardeners are often used to add additional color depth and durability.

05

Finishing: After stamping and coloring, the surface is further refined to ensure a smooth and consistent appearance. Trowels or other tools may be used to blend any visible seams, level the surface, and create a uniform texture.

06

Curing and Protection: The stamped and dyed concrete needs proper curing to ensure long-term strength and durability. Curing methods, such as the use of curing compounds or protective coverings, are applied to retain moisture and promote proper hydration of the concrete.

07

Sealing and Maintenance: Once the stamped and dyed concrete has fully cured, a protective sealer is applied to enhance the color, protect against staining and UV damage, and improve overall longevity. Regular maintenance, including cleaning and resealing as needed, helps to preserve the appearance and extend the lifespan of the stamped and dyed con

listen to what others are saying about excalibur

The biggest complement we can get from one of our clients is a good review and a referral. We genuinely care about everyone we do business with and take the time to make sure each customer feels like they are getting the highest quality service at a fair price.

We would like to thank all of our customers who have taken a little time out of their busy day to leave a comment about their experience with Excalibur.

Excalibur's Bryan Warman and crew planned and constructed a new outdoor entry area and side yard walkway at our Queen Anne home, including concrete debris removal, regrading, adding a retaining wall and crushed stone base, and bringing in expert cement masons to pour a new entry and sidewalk -- all while protecting an extensive irrigation and electrical lighting system. Completed project is attractive, safer and much more functional.

Was great working with Excalibur. Their crew was awesome, always asking if they were doing the job to my satisfaction. They came out and cleaned up 10 acres of overgrown property that you could barely walk through. Their mulching machinery is very impressive and highly effective. I plan to have them do more work for me in the future.

How long will the stamped concrete last?

Stamped concrete, when properly installed and maintained, can last for many years. The lifespan of stamped concrete depends on various factors such as the quality of materials used, installation techniques, and maintenance practices. By following recommended maintenance guidelines and periodically resealing the concrete, you can ensure its longevity and beauty for decades to come.

Is stamped concrete more expensive than traditional concrete?

The cost of stamped concrete is typically higher than traditional concrete due to the additional materials and labor involved in creating the decorative patterns and colors. However, it is generally more cost-effective compared to alternative materials such as natural stone or pavers, while still providing a similar aesthetic appeal and durability.

Will the color of the stamped concrete fade over time?

As a professional in the concrete stamping and dying industry, we use high-quality dyes and sealers that are specifically designed to resist fading and UV damage. While some minor color change may occur over an extended period due to natural weathering, proper maintenance and periodic resealing can help preserve the color vibrancy for many years.

Can I choose the pattern and color for my stamped concrete?

Absolutely! We offer a wide range of stamp patterns and colors for you to choose from. Whether you prefer a natural stone look, brick patterns, or custom designs, we can help you select the perfect option to suit your taste and complement your surroundings.

How long does concrete stamping and dying typically take?

The time required for concrete stamping and dying depends on various factors, such as the size of the project and the complexity of the design. On average, it can take anywhere from a few days to a couple of weeks to complete the process. I will provide you with a more accurate timeline after assessing your specific project requirements.

What is concrete stamping and dying?

Concrete stamping and dying are decorative techniques used to enhance the appearance of plain concrete surfaces. With stamping, we create patterns and textures on the concrete using specialized tools. Dying involves applying color to the concrete to achieve the desired aesthetic.
